❓ Content reviewed: A clip showing a member of parliament’s assistant standing in floodwaters in Hat Yai, calling on the People’s Party to scrutinize the Anutin government.
❌ Fact-check result: The clip was generated using AI, with some portions based on real footage.
📝 Summary: The clip titled “Hat Yai flooding, southern floods—has the People’s Party scrutinized the Anutin government yet?” was published on 29 Nov 2025 on the Facebook and X accounts of Mr. Cheepatham Khamwiset, who identifies in his profile as an assistant to Mr.Sutham Saengpratoom, a party-list MP from the Pheu Thai Party .
In the 15-second clip, images show Mr. Cheepatham saying: “I’m standing in the middle of floodwaters in downtown Hat Yai. The water is almost waist-high. Homes and shops are all closed. People have to evacuate by boat like this across the entire city. You can clearly see how much people are suffering.” He then questioned the responsibility of the People’s Party, asking whether it had scrutinized Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s government regarding relief and assistance for flood victims.
🔎 Cofact investigation: Almost all of the visuals in this clip were generated using Sora, an AI model developed by OpenAI—the same company behind ChatGPT. This is evident from the logo and application name clearly visible throughout the clip. Multiple anomalies were also identified, such as shop signs made up of meaningless word clusters, Ministry of Public Health signs misspelled in both English and Thai, a golden Garuda emblem on a building that differs from the authentic national emblem, and inconsistent flood levels—described in narration as “almost waist-high,” while the background water appears only ankle-deep.

However, some parts of the clip used real footage, such as the segment showing Mr. Cheeptham seated and speaking indoors.
Regarding the clip’s audio questioning whether the People’s Party (PP) had scrutinized the Anutin government’s handling of the floods, the program Kammakorn Khao: Khui Nok Jor, broadcast live on the YouTube channel “Sorayuth Sutasanajinda Kammakorn Khao” on 2 Dec, interviewed Mr. Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, leader of the People’s Party, while he was visiting Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. He was asked whether the chaos in handling the flood crisis was serious enough for the People’s Party to file a no-confidence motion against the government. Mr. Natthaphong said that both the People’s Party and the Pheu Thai Party have sufficient votes to submit a no-confidence motion, but he believed that what the public needed most at that moment was continuity in solving the problem. He therefore did not want political conditions—such as constitutional amendments—to dictate actions, and wanted urgent matters like the flood crisis to be addressed first.
◾️ UPDATE (3 Dec 2025, 09:10): After Cofact published this post, Mr. Cheepatham clarified in a comment under the post that all images in the clip were generated by AI, including the footage of him sitting and speaking to the camera indoors.
